H- The stories of Mõmmisalu. Forest folk's Christmas anticipation
The stuffed animal holds all kinds of creatures: squirrels, deer, weasels, mice, titmice, spiders, ants, frogs and many, many others. Mommi goes to the forest with her friends to find out how the animals prepare for Christmas. A red-breasted one, tiny as a dwarf, / brought the news: "Tsik! Christmas is coming! Zig-zig!”, after which the Two Birds immediately announced that their side / was starting a Christmas card painting school. There is enough excitement for every couple of pages of the book: what secrets and stories does the forest hide? The child has to find a certain number of characters or things mentioned in the verses from the big picture.
The cardboard book for the youngest is based on Rachel Piercey and Freya Hartas' "Mõmmisalu lood". Forest People's Yearbook" (published in Estonian in 2021), in which fiction and non-fiction are combined with amazing ingenuity into a form attractive to children and which is supported by the current idea of nature conservation. Both books have reached Estonian readers through the resourceful mediation of Riina Turi.
